Local community invited to get involved in shaping plans for Lodge Hill, Chattenden

Land Securities is inviting local residents to come along to public exhibitions for Lodge Hill, near Chattenden.

The company is working with Defence Estates to bring forward a new mixed-use development on the current site of the Royal School of Military Engineering (RSME) Barracks at Chattenden, once the site becomes surplus to MoD requirements in 2012.

The development has the potential to create new homes, together with community facilities and new employment opportunities over the next 20 years.

The exhibitions will take place at:

  • The Lodge, Lodge Hill Lane, Chattenden, from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday 23rd April
  • The Main Hall, Hundred of Hoo School, Main Road, Hoo St Werburgh from 5pm to 8pm on Friday 24thApril
  • Chattenden Community Centre, Swinton Avenue, Chattenden from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 25th April
  • All Saints Parish Hall, Church Green, Frindsbury from 10am to 1pm on Monday 27th April
  • High Halstow Memorial Hall, The Street, High Halstow, Rochester from 4pm to 7pm on Monday 27th April
  • Stoke Village Hall, Mallard Way, Lower Stoke, Rochester from 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday 28th April

Stephen Neal, Senior Development Manager for Land Securities, commented: "While our research and investigations can tell us a lot about the site in terms of the opportunities or the constraints it presents, the insights and views of local people are critical in making sure that any plans for the area are well thought out.

"These first exhibitions, and the other consultation events that will follow, play a crucial role in gathering information to help shape our future plans. We are really keen to receive as many comments as possible and would urge people to come along.

This is the first stage of Land Securities' public consultation for Lodge Hill and there will be more opportunities for residents to get involved later this year. A dedicated hotline has also been set up on 0845 683 2544 to answer any queries regarding the plans or exhibitions.
